Rocks, Gems and Gifts
We put together a display for the Idaho Gem Club Show (Saturday, February 24th,10am to 6pm and Sunday, February 25th,10am to 5pm at Expo Idaho) and the Owyhee Gem and Mineral Society Show (Saturday, March 2nd,10am to 6pm and Sunday, March 3rd, 10am to 5pm at O’Connor Field House). We will not be selling at these shows.
We will be selling at the Magic Valley Gem Club Show (Saturday, March 9th, 9am to 5pm and Sunday, March 10rd, 10am to 4pm at the Twin Falls County Fairgrounds).
Rainbow petrified wood is famous because of it wide varieties of colors. This petrified wood comes from just outside Petrified Forest National Park near Holbrook, Arizona.
Thunder eggs come from cavities in volcanic rocks that have filled in with agate, jasper, opal or other materials. This thunder egg from Richardson’s Ranch filled in with blue agate.
Fluorite is the mineral form of calcium fluoride. It crystallizes in isometric cubic habit, although octahedral and more complex isometric forms are not uncommon; it often occurs as veins with metallic minerals.
7th vein Ocean Jasper is characterized by plume-like patterns set against a deep forestry green jasper background.
Carnelian ranges in color from yellow-orange to deep brownish-red. It varies from semi-opaque to highly translucent and can include drusy quartz and small crystals.
Black agate is a variety of chalcedony, a mineral from the quartz family.
